About KAS Exam

KAS Exam will be conducted by KPSC, to recruit grade ‘A’ posts in the various departments of the government, like Assistant Commissioners in various depts., Tahsildar grade 2, CTO, Treasure Commissioner, DYSP, DDAUS, Deputy Directors posts. Examinations will be held in three phases. a. Prelims b. Mains and c. Interview are those three phases. Selected candidates in prelims will be given a chance to attend the mains and mains qualified candidates will be called for an interview. Any graduate can apply to this exam. And GM candidates have five attempts, where as SC, and CAT1 candidates has no limits then OBC candidates have seven limits to attempt the exams.

Karnataka Public Service Commission conducts Karnataka civil services exam (Gazetted Probationers) exam.

KAS Gazetted Probationers Competitive Exam is Conducted in 2 Stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Paper)
  2. Main Examination (Written Exam & Personality Test)
  1. Preliminary Examination:
    The Preliminary Examination shall consist of two papers of objective type (multiple choice).
    1. Each paper carrying 100 Questions with each question carrying two marks.
    2. Each paper shall be of a maximum of 200 marks and a duration of two hours (Total for two papers 400 Marks) in the following

  2. Main Examination:

    • Written Examination:
      Candidates who qualified in preliminary examination will go to second stage i.e Main examination which contains seven papers in conventional, descriptive type that of Degree level. The standard of paper I Kannada and Paper II English shall be that of First Language Kannada and First Language English respectively at SSLC level. All seven papers are compulsory. Paper II to V consists of three sections. Each paper carries a maximum of 250 marks and duration of 03 Hours. Minimum qualifying marks will be given for reservation candidates as per the rules.

    • Personality Test:
      Candidates are called for personality test in the order of merit on the basis of the results of the Main Examination ensuring the reservations for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes in the same ratio of vacancies reserved for them. Personality Test shall carry a maximum of 200 marks. Candidate will be interviewed by a board who will have before them a record of his or her career except marks secured in their main examination.
